A long day on the road. We aimed for Maun in Botswana but made very good time so pushed on to Ghanzi. The road we took was not through the Chobe but the main road through Nata. It was quite nice scenery, not too brown – actually fairly green considering that it is the dry season. We saw elephant too, on the road – we actually had to stop for them.
Nata is really only petrol stations, though they are well equipped with everything, can even get hot food. Problem is that we could not change money, we went into a bottle store and got pula for dollars at 4:1 – not particularly good. At Maun we changed money, put in fuel and went to Steers – yes Steers. Had a burger and chips. We stopped by the roadside, they have designated picnic sites with chairs and tables, for lunch. It was windy though so didn’t hang around.
We camped at the Kalahari arms hotel. Not too bad but quite small. There
were two tents and one caravan and it was full. The shower was good though
and you can get food if needed. Anyway, shorter ride tomorrow. Good night.
