Scott's diary
We travelled a long way and spent a quite a few days on the road. I have no fancy heading for each stage of the journey so I've just broken it down into each country. This is the diary I wrote while travelling, mostly during the times when we weren't fighting mud, sand, beaurocrates, or anything else that makes life a little exciting.

We went through 17 countries and there are seventeen links. Whenever you see the symbol on the left it will bring you back to this page so you can choose another country. I have put some of my better pictures here. We took over fifty spools so picking the good ones, that look good on a computer monitor, took loads of time. They may change as time passes.

    Spain Uganda
    Andora and France Tanzania
    Tunisia Malawi
    Libya Zambia
    Egypt Zimbabwe
    Egypt to Sudan Botswana
    Sudan Namibia
    Ethiopia South Africa
    Kenya

I took many "measurements" while on the road. These are shown at the start of each day. The Odo is the reading on the car odometer the morning of that day. Co-ords are the North/South and East/West GPS readings on the morning of that day, i.e. where we spent the previous night and Fuel is how much we put in during the day and the Odo at that point.

    Here's an example :

    Odo 36 367km
    Co-ords N 36 24 51.5
    E 42 21 32.3
    Fuel 50 L  36 500km

    It means :

    • We started the morning with 36 367km on the clock.
    • We were at 36 degrees, 24 minutes and 51,5 seconds North of the equator and;
    • 42 degrees, 21 minutes and 32.3 seconds East of Greenwhich.
    • And put in 50 litres of fuel when the Odo reading was 36 500km
A note for the GPS readings: They were all done using the WGS84 standard on a Garmin12.
